Πετοβάστις Ζήνωνι χαίρειν. γέγραφά σοι πλεονάκις περί μου ὅπως ἂν γράψηιςγράψεις Ἑρμαφίλωι ἵνα με διῆταί με ἐκ τῆς φυλακῆς· σὺ δὲ κατερραθύμηκας, καὶ ταῦτα ἔργων ἡμῖν ἐνεστηκότων. ὑπελάμβανον οὖν σε μὴ οὕτως εειν, ἀλλὰ τὴν πᾶσαν σπουδὴν περί μου ποιήσεσθαιποήσεσθαι· ὁ γὰρ Ἑρ μάφιλος οὔ φησιν ἀφήσειν με, ἐὰν μὴ σὺ αὐτῶι γράψηιςγράψεις. πολλάκις γὰρ αὐτῶι ἀπέσταλκα ὑπομνήματα. γίνωσκε δὲ διότι οὐ πρὸς ὀφείλημα ἀπῆγμαι· τὰ γὰρ δίκαια πεποίηκαπεπόηκα τῶι βα σιλεῖ. σὺ οὖν καλῶς ἂν ποιήσαιςποήσαις γράψαςγράψαις αὐτῶι ἐπιστολὴν ἵνα ἀφεθῶ· ὡσαύτως δὲ καὶ Πύθωνι καὶ Ἀντιπάτρωι γράψον αὐτοῖς ἵνα μνησθῶσιν αὐτῶι ἅμα τῆι ἐπιστολῆιεπιστολης τῆιτης παρὰ σοῦ ἀποδιδομέ νηι αὐτῶι. ἠξίωσα δὲ καὶ Νικαίαν ἀποδημῆσαι πρὸς σέ, ὅπως ἂν αὐτῶι δῶιςδοις ἐπιστολὴν πρὸς Ἑρ μάφιλον· λέγουσιν γὰρ αὐτὸν μέλλεινεελλειν ἐγδημεῖν εἰς Μέμφιν. ἔρρωσο. Ζήνωνι.
