ἵνα μάθῃ ἡ θεοφύλακτος ὑμῶν ἀδελφότης ὡς προχθὲς ἥτις ἐστὶν ζ τοῦ παρόντος μηνὸς κατέπλευσεν ὁ δεσπότης μου ὁ ἐνδοξότατος τοποτηρητής, καὶ ἐκέλευσέν μοι γράψαι ὑμῖν ἵνα γράψητέ μοι τὸ πρᾶγμα τοῦ πλοίου τὸ τί ἐποιήσατε εἰς αὐτό· ἅμα οὖν τῇ ἀναγνώσει τῆς παρούσης ἐπιστολῆς ἐπιστολῆς ἡ θεοφύλακτος ὑμῶν ἀδελφότης γράψῃ μοι τὴν περιπέτειαν τοῦ πράγματος, καὶ τὸ τί δεῖταιδεεται πάλιν λόγῳ αὐτοῦ. ὄπιθεν δὲ τῶν παρόντων γραμμάτων πέμπω ὑμῖν τὴν συκομορέαν ξηράν· ἀλλὰ πέμψατε τὸν ἄνθρωπον ὑμῶν πρὸς τὸν Κῦριν Ἀριστοφάνην ὀφείλοντα ἐπιλέξασθαι τὴν ἀκανθέαν λόγῳ τοῦ λεγομένου κερκίς, ἐπειδὴ αὐτὸς αὐτὴν παρέχει, καὶ ἀσπάζομαι ὑμᾶς διὰ τοῦ γράμματος. ἀλλὰ ἐὰν κατέλθῃ ὁ ἄνθρωπος ὑμῶν γράψατέ μοι πάλιν διʼ αὐτοῦ, καὶ γράψατε πρὸς τὸν Κῦριν Ἀριστοφάνην χάριν τούτου πάλιν Χοιὰκ θ ἰνδικτίονος δ τῷ θεοφυλάκτῳ μου δεσπότῃ καὶ ἀδελφῷ Παπᾷ τῷ παγάρχῳ Ἀπόλλωνος Ἄνω Ἑλλάδιος περὶ τοῦ πλοίου
