Γάιος Οὐίβιος Μάξιμος ἔπαρχος Αἰγύπτου λέγει· τῆς κατʼ οἰκίαν ἀπογραφῆς ἐνεστώσης ἀναγκαῖόν ἐστιν πᾶσιν τοῖς καθʼ ἥντινα δήποτε αἰτίαν ἀποδημοῦσιν ἀπὸ τῶν νομῶν προσαγγέλλεσθαι ἐπανελ θεῖν εἰς τὰ ἑαυτῶν ἐφέστια ἵνα καὶ τὴν συνήθη οἰκονομίαν τῆς ἀπο γραφῆς πληρώσωσιν καὶ τῇ προσηκού σῃ αὐτοῖς γεωργίαι προσκαρτερήσωσιν. εἰδὼς μέντοι ὅτι ἐνίων τῶν ἀπὸ τῆς χώρας ἡ πόλις ἡμῶν ἔχει χρείαν βούλομαι πάντας τοὺς εὔλογον δοκοῦν τας ἔχειν τοῦ ἐνθάδε ἐπιμένεινἐπιμένιν αἰ τίαν ἀπογράφεσθαι παρὰ Βουλ Φήστῳ ἐπάρχωι εἴλης, ὃν ἐπὶ τούτῳ ἔταξα, οὗ καὶ τὰς ὑπογραφὰς οἱ ἀποδεί ξαντες ἀναγκαίαν αὑτῶν τὴν παρουσίαν λήμψονται κατὰ τοῦτο τὸ παράγγελμα ἐντὸς τῆς τριακάδος τοῦ ἐνεστῶτος μη νὸς Ἐπεὶφ ἐπανελθεῖν μεθʼ ἧς ὑπογραφῆς τοῦ ἐπιλρεθηι οὐ μετρίως εὖ γὰρρ οἶδα τὰ ἐντεθαι ὅσον τῇ π ἀδικοῦντες
