παρὰ καὶ κατὰ πρόσωπον παρεκάλεσα τὴν σὴν λαμπρὰν ἀδελφότητα ἵνα μὴ ἐάσῃ, ὃ καὶ ὀφειλόμενον, τοῦ δικαίου ἀπαλλαγῆναι ἡμᾶς. οἶδα γὰρ ὅτι φίλον φιλεῖς καὶ οὐ δύνῃ αὐτὸν λυπῆσαι. καὶ πολλάκις ἐξῆν γρᾶψαί σοι περὶ τοῦ κεφαλαίου τούτου, καὶ προσδοκῶνπροσδοκο͂ν καθʼ ἑκάστην καταλαμβάνειν ἐκεῖσε τούτου ἕνεκεν οὐκ ἐχρησάμην ἄλλην γράψαι ἄλλοις γράμμασιν. καὶ παρακαλῶ τὴν σὴν λαμπρὰν ἀδελφότητα γράψῃ μοι περὶ τούτου, ἵνα ἐμοῦ σὺν θεῷ εὐχομένου μὴ δόξῃ μοι τί ποτε ἀκαθοσίωτον ποιῆσαι. οὐ καλῶς γὰρ ἐποίησεν ὁ κύριος Ἰουλιανὸς τὰ μὴ ἀνήκοντα αὐτὸν λαβεῖν, εἰ δὲ εν καὶ ἔλαβεν, ἀνάγκην ἔχει ἀναδοῦναι, τὰ γὰρ ἐν πολέμῳ ἁρπαζόμενα ἐν εἰρήνῃ ἀναδίδονται. καὶ ἀνάγκην ἔχει τὴν ἀσφάλειαν ἣν ἐποίησα καὶ πρὸς τὴν ἀσφάλειαν ποιῆσαι. καὶ πρὸς τὸ γνῶναι τὸν ἐμὸν δεσπότην ἐχρησάμην παρακαλῶν διὰ τούτωντούτον μου τῶν γραμμάτων. τὸ δὲ κεφάλαιον τῆς ἐπιστολῆς πολλὰ προσκυνῶ τὸν ἐμὸν δεσπότην. δεσπότῃ ἐμῷ τὰ πάντα λαμπροτάτῳ πάσης τιμῆς ἀξίῳ προστάτῃ μετὰ τὸν θεὸν κυρίῳ Μαρτυρίῳ ἐξκέπτορι Ἰωάννης Κυνο
