Ζήνωνι χαίρειν Πᾶις. ἀνέπλευσα ἐν τῶι πλοίωι καὶ ἐνοχλούμεθα ὑπὸ τοῦ πραγματευομένου τὴν δωδεκαδραχμίαν καὶ οὔπω οὐ νμη μεθα οἷς ἔγραψας. Ἀρτεμιδώρωι δὲ ἠγάγομεν εἰς Μέμφιν πυρῶν ἀρτάβας φ ἐκ Τηφι καὶ ἔδωκέν μοι δραχμὰς η, ἃς ἀνήλωσα εἰς τὸ πλοῖον. οἱ δὲ ναῦται οὐ προσ έχουσιν πλεῖν ἐπὶ τῶι τρίτωι μέρει. πυθοῦ δὲ παρὰ σοὶ πῶς πλέ ουσιν ἐπὶ τὴν μονοπωλίαν, εὑρήσεις δὲ πλέοντας ἐφʼ ἡμισείαιἡμισέαι. εἰ οὖν σοι δοκεῖ, γράψον ἡμῖν ναυπηγῆσαι τὸ πλοῖον· ἐνέστηκενἐνέστηκεγ γὰρ ὁ καιρὸς καὶ οἱ ναυπηγοὶ ἀσχολάζουσιν. ἔσται δὲ ἔπεργον· νυνὶ γὰρ ὄντος παλαιοῦ οὐθεὶς προσπορεύεται· καί, ἐὰν βούληι, ἐγμισθώσεις αὐτό. ἐγὼ δὲ ὑφίσταμαι, ἐφʼ ὧι γραφήσεται εἰς μονοπώλια, τάξομαί σοι δραχμὰς ω. γράψον οὖν μοι πενεν, ἵνα μὴ τρίτος ὢν καθῶμαι ἐν τῶι πλοίωι. οὐθὲν λαμβάνοντες οὐκ ἔχομεν τὰ ἀναγκαῖατὰ̓ναγκαῖα. ἔρρωσο. ἔτους λη, Φαμενὼθ κ. Ζήνωνι. Πᾶις κυβερνήτης.
