Σάρας καὶ Εὐδαίμων Διογένει τῷ υἱῷ χαίρειν. συμβουλευθέντες ὑπὸ τοῦ ἀξιολογωτάτου Ἀμμω νίωνος διὰ τὸ ἄδηλον τῆς ὁδοιπορίας πορθμεῖονπροθμεῖον μεταπέμψασθαιμεταπέμψασσθαι, ἐπέμ ψαμέν σοι ἐπίσταλμα ἵνʼ ἐὰν μὲν πεισθέντες σοι πέμψωσιν σοῦ παρόν τος κατασχῇς ἃ δεῖ, εἰ δὲ μήγε, ἐπιστείλῃς τῷ τε στρατηγῷ καὶ τοῖς εἰρηνάρχαις ὑπὲρ τῆς ἀσφαλείας ἡμῶν καταχωρισθησόμε νον. εἰδὼς δὲ ὁποία ἐστὶν καὶ ἡ ξενία, λαβὼν παρὰ τῶν ἱερέων ὀλίγον χιν καὶ λιβανωτόν τινα συναγοράσας ἀγα θόν, ἐρχόμενοςἀγαθχομενος ἔνεγκεε. ἀκούομεν ὅτι δύο ἡμέρας ἐν τῇ Ἡρακλεοπολί τηἩρακλεοπολείτηἩρακλεοπόλει ἔχειχοι, ὅθεν κατὰ τὴν προσοῦσάν σοι ἐπιμέ λειαν σπεῦσον, ἔχων ὧν χάριν καὶ ὥρμησαςὥρμισας· οὐδὲν γὰρ ὄφελος ὑστε ρήσαντοςὑστερησαντων τῶν χρειω δῶν τῇ παρουσίᾳ αὐτοῦ. Ἀμμωνᾶς καὶ Διόσκορος οἱ μάγειροι ἀνεληλύθασιν εἰς τὸν Ὀξυρυγχείτην ὡς εὐθέ ως ἐξελευσόμενοι. ἐπεὶἐπὶ οὖν βραδύνουσι μήποτε αὐ τῶν χρεία γένοιτο εὐθέ ως αὐτοὺς ἐξέλασον. ἔρρωσό μοι εὐτυχῶς. ἔρρωσο ἐμοί τε καὶ σοὶ εὐτυχῶς. Διογένει.
